Germany won Group A, as expected – albeit with diminishing returns following a 5-1 opening night destruction of Scotland – and needed an injury-time equaliser from Niclas Fullkrug to avoid defeat last time out against Switzerland. The 31-year-old super sub now has 13 goals in 19 caps, just six of which have been starts.
Three draws were enough for Denmark to finish runners-up in Group C, the 0-0 stalemate with Serbia on Tuesday a tame affair. Kasper Hjulmand's side caused plenty of upsets three years ago in reaching the semi-finals, while this game is a repeat of the final at Euro 92 when Peter Schmeichel produced a superb display to seal a 2-0 win. Son, Kasper, it's over to you.
Kick-off is at 8pm BST. Make sure you know how to watch Euro 2024 wherever you are.
Germany will be keeping an eye on Antonio Rudiger, who has missed a couple of training sessions with a thigh injury. The Real Madrid man's presence against Denmark will be of vital importance because centre-back partner Jonathan Tah is suspended and otherwise coach Julian Nagelsmann will have to select an all-new central duo.
Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck will come in for Tah at his home stadium. Otherwise, Nagelsmann must decide on his front line and whether gap-toothed Fullkrug will come into the starting XI, potentially in place of Florian Wirtz.
Denmark will also be forced into one change, with Morten Hjulmand suspended for yellow card accumulation. Either fit-again Thomas Delaney or Brentford man Christian Norgaard are expected to come in.
Beyond that, Kasper Hjulmand is expected to continue with a settled side. That means Christian Eriksen, who became Denmark's most-capped male player against Serbia, will again start along with Manchester United team-mate Rasmus Hojlund further forward.

Switzerland were minutes away from topping Group A. They were only denied by a late Niclas Füllkrug strike. The Swiss have no shortage of quality and plenty of fight. This is epitomised by captain Granit Xhaka who has been superb throughout the tournament. With the dangerous Breel Embolo back to full fitness, they will be confident of ending a run of 11 matches without a win against their neighbors.
Just three years ago Italy swept past Switzerland 3-0 on the way to winning the European Championships. This time around it feels as though the game will be much tighter. Italy are, of course, tough to break down, though coach Luciano Spalletti hasn't got the best from his No.9s yet.
Speaking ahead of today's game, Switzerland manager Murat Yakin was extremely confident of ending his nation's poor run against Italy. He said: "We're in good form, are unpredictable and will try to come out on top of this game."
Line-ups
Italy XI: Donnarumma, Di Lorenzo, Mancini, Bastoni, Darmian, Cristante, Fagioli, Barella, Chiesa, Scamacca, El Shaarawy.
Switzerland XI: Sommer, Schar, Akanji, Rodriguez, Aebischer, Freuler, Xhaka, Rieder, Vargas, Ndoye, Embolo.

The knockout stage kicks off with a clash between neighboring rivals in Berlin.
The round of 16 gets underway at UEFA Euro 2024 on Saturday as Switzerland take on Italy at the Olympiastadion.
The Swiss come into this match in confident form, having reached the knockout rounds unbeaten and almost beat tournament hosts Germany in their final Group A fixture.
The Italians also finished second in their group, and were in danger of being eliminated before Mattia Zaccagni's 98th-minute equalizer earned the Azzurri a draw in their final pool stage match against Croatia.
The Switzerland vs Italy live stream provides as intriguing a match up as you're likely to get to kick off the last 16 matches at Euro 2024. The neigbors met in the group stage three years ago – a customary win for the Azzurri – but this knockout game could be anyone's.
The Swiss have a legendarily poor record in knockout soccer – since 1938, the Nati have won just once in post-group stage matches, a penalty shootout defeat of favorites France at Euro 2020. They were an injury-time equalizer away from topping Group A after Dan Ndoye gave Murat Yakin's side the lead and have looked impressive, especially with captain Granit Xhaka continuing his form after a stellar Bayer Leverkusen season.
Italy didn't know it at the time, but without Mattia Zaccagni's superb equalizer with the last kick of the game against Croatia, the defending champions would be out. It's been a nervy tournament for the Azzurri but their excellent record against Switzerland – unbeaten in 11 games dating back to 1993 – may yet spark Luciano Spalletti's side into life.
That being said, two of those games included draws with the Swiss which ultimately resulted in Italy failing to qualifying for the last World Cup. Old wounds will be laid bare. Worse still, impressive center-back Riccardo Calafiori – who set up that Zaccagni goal – is suspended. Switzerland, meanwhile will look to fit-again Breel Embolo to lead their line.
The teams are in and Switzerland make one change from their 1-1 draw with Germany, as Ruben Vargas comes in for the suspended Silvan Widmer. That means Fabian Rieder will drop back as a right-wing-back and Vargas deployed with Dan Ndoye behind Breel Embolo up front. Manuel Akanji starts at the heart of a back three, with Xhaka captain.
Italy make six changes as Stephan El Shaarawy, Gianluca Scamacca, Federico Chiesa, Bryan Cristante, Nicolo Fagioli and Gianluca Mancini all come into Luciano Spalletti's much-changed side. Nicolo Barella, Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Alessandro Bastoni, plus captain Gianluigi Donnarumma, keep their places but Jorginho, Mateo Retegui and Lorenzo Pellegrini are among the names to drop to the bench.
The Azzuri champions are way down the list of favorites, but they've been entertaining to watch, needing a 98th-minute goal against Croatia to secure progression. Switzerland will be tough to beat, though, as they recently held Germany to a 1-1 draw.
It will undoubtedly be one of the most closely contested duels in the Round of 16. Switzerland managed to emerge victorious from a complex group that fought with Germany, Hungary and Scotland. Now the challenge will be even greater for them.
Italy achieved a heroic qualification in the last minute thanks to Zaccagni’s scoring goal against Croatia. They seek to remain firm in the defense of the title and will go for victory.
